Education Advantage
Iowa Falls is home to Ellsworth Community College, which has been recognized as the fastest growing community college in Iowa (Campus Map) with double digit increases in enrollment over the past two years. As recognized by the State of Iowa, Iowa Falls Schools are among the finest in the country, as witnessed by the high ACT scores posted by the local college-bound students. In addition, the Iowa Falls Schools District program is highly recognized for its educational programming and their 97.4% high school graduation rate.
A brief summary of Iowa Falls (K-12) schools & Ellsworth Community College:
- Pineview Elementary (K-2): Pineview Elementary has nineteen full-time professional staff members and 287 students with a student ratio of 15 to 1. The average class size is 21 children. Pineview also has seven instructional and special education teacher aides to meet individual needs. The elementary school is an Early Childhood Center with all day, everyday kindergarten programming, inclusive special needs programming, Early Childhood Special programming and Reading Recovery.
- Rock Run Elementary (3-5): The student to teacher ratio for this school is 21 to 1. Rock Run offers several innovative programs for students, including the talented and gifted program (LIFT- Leading Iowa Falls Gifted), Special Needs Programs, At-Risk Program, “Star Search” Program with emphasis on self esteem, careers and parent involvement, and the “I Got Caught Doing Something Good” citizenship program.
- Riverbend Middle School (6-8): Riverbend Middle School has approximately 310 students. All students are instructed in the areas of Reading , Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. It also offers exploratory programming which exposes the students to courses, which they may otherwise not have the opportunity to experience.
- Iowa Falls-Alden High School (9-12): The High School student to teacher ration is 15.39 to 1. As stated earlier, the students continually score above the state and national average on ACT scores. 25% of graduating seniors attend four-year colleges and 40% attend two-year colleges. Innovative programs include the Iowa Falls DECA program, Community Learning of Unique Experiences (CLUE) internship program, school to work program and the Learning Center, which is tutorial resource available beyond special education to any student requiring assistance.
- Ellsworth Community College: Ellsworth Community College is located in Iowa Falls and over 800 students attend this school. Ellsworth College represents the northern half of the Iowa Valley Community College District. Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees can be earned locally and Buena Vista University provides an opportunity to obtain a four-year degree. In addition, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa are only fifty minutes from Iowa Falls and the University of Iowa is two hours away.
